Itinerary
Welcome to India and Delhi International Airport where we will be met by our representatives and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Gurgaon, Courtyard by Marriott (Meals: No Meals)
After breakfast we set off on a half day tour of New Delhi, visiting the Qutub Minar, a 72m gigantic tower, built by India’s first Muslim ruler, Qutub-ud-din Aibak. Next on our tour is a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, the mausoleum of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun. The tomb, perfectly situated in a Persian garden, features an ingenious combination of red sandstone and white marble on the exterior appearance of the building. Walk through the diplomatic area, the government buildings, Rashtrapati Bhawan (residence of the President of India), the Parliament and the India Gate (Arch of Triumph). We visit the Gurudwara, the Temple of Sikh religion, an architectural beauty and witness a unique community kitchen service at the Gurudwara. Afternoon is left for our tennis sessions, at the sports club in Gurugram with 15 clay courts (16:00-19:00). Back to the hotel and evening is left at leisure. Overnight in Gurgaon (Meals: Breakfast)
After breakfast, it’s time for our tour of Old Delhi, passing by the Red Fort, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and enjoy a ride on a rickshaw at Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and largest bazaars in India. Next, we visit the Jama Mosque, the largest mosque in India. We also visit Rajghat, the place where Mahatma Gandhi, “Father of the Nation”, was cremated on January 31, 1948. Again, this afternoon is dedicated to our tennis sessions at the sports club in Gurugram, (16:00-19:00). Back to the hotel and evening is left at leisure. Overnight in Gurgaon (Meals: Breakfast)
Breakfast at hotel followed by morning drive to Agra (Approx. 233 Kms/4-5hours), an ancient city as mentioned in the great epic ‘Mahabharata’ and was the centre of attention during the reign of the Mughals. It is famous for being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a monument of such incredible elegance that it is considered synonymous with beauty. On arrival at our hotel in Agra, afternoon is left at leisure, or we can hit the courts to practice some shots (2 grass courts). Overnight in Agra (Meals: Breakfast)
An early start today, as we enjoy a sunrise visit t of the Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays), India’s most fascinating and beautiful monument. The Taj Mahal was completed in 1653 AD by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite queen, Mumtaz Mahal. This perfectly symmetrical monument took 22 years of hard labour and 20,000 workers, masons and jewellers to build and is set amidst landscaped gardens. We return back to our hotel for a well-deserved breakfast. Later on this morning we visit Agra Fort, an imposing fortress on the banks of the Yamuna River, built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, in 1565 AD. After the visit enjoy some shopping and walk through the bazars of Agra city. Return back to our hotel and rest of the day is for our tennis sessions (16:00 – 18:00). Breakfast at the hotel, and we set off for Jaipur (approx. 268 Kms/5-6 hours). On the way we visit Abhaneri, the beautiful place and home to the Step Wells, built by King Chand Raja, in order to help the people during drought periods. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, also known as “The Pink City “, as the old city had been turned terracotta pink in 1876 to welcome Prince Albert. Transfer to the Hotel. This morning, after breakfast we visit the Amber Fort and enjoy a Jeep ride. Amber Fort, situated on a picturesque and rugged hill, is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Then stroll through the beautifully restored Jal Mahal, a former royal pleasure pavilion. Afternoon visit of the City Palace and museum, we visit the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of the Winds – the five-story facade of 593 latticed stone sieve windows, an emblem of the city of Jaipur. Also visit the Jantar Mantar or the Astronomical Observatory. This is the largest and best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. Explore the exotic ‘bazaars’ of Jaipur to discover the artistic richness of the region. We then visit Birla Temple to see the nightly ritual of religious worship Aarti ceremony. And the afternoon is of course dedicated to our tennis sessions, at the sports club in Jaipur (16:00-19:00). We return to the hotel, and the evening is left at leisure. After breakfast, we drive to the sports club to practice tennis skill again, and in the afternoon, we return to our hotel, visiting Jaipur’s many and vibrant bazars. Overnight in Jaipur (Meals: Breakfast)
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Jaipur and drive back to Delhi (Approx. 250 Kms/5 hours). On arrival , we check in at your hotel in the Aerocity, close to Delhi’s International airport, and rest of the day is left at leisure to relax and enjoy some free time. It’s time to say goodbye to India and our Indian Tennis Adventure, as we transfer to airport for onward journey.
